Technics SA-222 Stereo Part Number

Hi,

IC "401" (8 pins) in the phono preamp circuit is defective in this
Technics SA-222 Stereo. "4559DS" is a number on the IC. Can you tell me the
Technics part number for this IC? Also, where is a good source for
hard to find ICs?

I do not have the part number information, but this is how you can get the
IC. This IC is not generic. It has to be origional only.

Contact Matsushita directly to find out their parts distributor near to you,
that is authorised to sell Technics parts in your area.

When you speak to the parts distributor, you will need the model number of
the unit, the circuit board number or ID, and the IC location number.

You could replace it with lots of high-quality op-amps and never EVER know
the difference. A standard 4558 or an NE5532 would work, but of course a
4559 or other low-noise version would be ideal.

Look for sources for an NJM4559.
I would try East Coast Transistor Parts. 800-645-3516

It is NOT a proprietary Technics part.

I suggest the NJM4560D Low noise, cheap, and easy to find.

Sounds like an RC4559 dual op-amp. Common in Panasonic/Technics
units. Datasheet is here:
