Teac ctv:- Select AV - ctv dies.

TEAC EU-68ST.

CTV was randomly shuting off.
This was fixed by resoldering C829 (47uF) as
found in the EFIL book.

While testing the set, I selected AV input with
the remote. The screen went black, no AV input can be heard/seen.
Not even the onscreen display will show up.

The audio/video signals from the tv channel that was showing
before I switched to AV is present at the AV output sockets
and cannot be changed.

The ctv will not respond to any button on the remote, I can't
even switch back to a tv channel or turn off the ctv.

The power light stays green.

The tube heater is still lit.

Turning off/on the main power switch returns the tv channels.

I have a schematic (much harder to follow than most).

Can anyone assist to save me some time?

Thanks,
Russell Griffiths.

Hi,

I would suspect an EEPROM fault. They do fail in this model.

If you can program a blankl chip, I can e-mail you the binary dump. I also
have some adjustment instructions.

If you are to buy an EEPROM from TEAC, make sure you get a pre-programmed
one! Sometimes they would sell an empty one and TV will not start.

E-mail me directly (rudolfl@optusnet.com.au) if you want the files.
