TCI is the “Thermosphere Climate Index”, a number NASA publishes every day to keep track of the temperature at the top of Earth’s atmosphere–a layer of gas researchers call “the thermosphere.”

It\'s a very high layer of very thin gas, and only matter to people who have to worry about the orbital decay of the low-orbiting satellites that fly through it. The \"temperatures\" can get very high, but since there\'s very little mass up there there\'s not much heat energy involved - certainly not enough to have anything to do with global warming despite a a\'s bizarre delusions about the influence of the solar corona.
