Folks,
Please bear with me for reposting this. Just doing it in the hope
that some soul knowledgeable in what I need may take a peek in today!

I bought TCL T 2909 ABS color Television set in Chennai in India about
two
years back. TCL brand is not sold here anymore. My TV has developed
a problem. I am not able to use the remote to switch to power on/off.
But I can change programs. I am not able to auto tune. I am not able
to view the entire picture on my screen. Top, bottom, left and right
portion of the screen cuts off. Menu is not in english language
anymore. It has got changed to Chinese or Taiwanese or some other far
eastern language. All this happened one fine day. Till then
everything was fine. Even now I can watch programs that have been
stored albeit with the abovementioned faults.
Can you guide as to what has gone wrong? How to set this right?
What part to change?
Thank you.

I have no idea of this brand of TV set, but it looks like the power supply,
and the main controller are having problems. The first thing the tech would
have to check and service is the main power supply.

If this is not a brand name set, he may have problems to find replacement
parts, if they are not of the common generic types such as standard
resistors, caps, and semiconductors. Specialized parts will be from the
manufacture only.

If you really want the set, take it to a reputable service centre, and let
them give you an estimate if they can service it for you.

I would suggest you retire the set, and get a good name brand type. Also,
get an extended warranty for anything you purchase. This way you will be
good for a number of years.
