Hi All

Had a power interpution . Lost about 2 1/2 " of VERT. sweep on top & bottom
.. I do not have a schmetic for this TV .

Any help would be greatfully received.

Check the vertical output IC, and drive to it. Most likely some of the
support components may be damaged as well. If you are not trained and
equipped for TV service, you will have to bring the set to a service centre
that can repair your model of set.

I agree - but.... check the caps in the vert circuit 1st - they tend
to dry out/degrade over time.

True, the caps right close to the Vert drive IC (nearest the heat sink), tend to dry out.

I just serviced my short tube 29" Mitsubishi TV which seems to blow its Vert drive IC on a
yearly basis. I might put a SIP socket in there for the IC and some sockets for the
caps!!!!!!! The traces are getting kinda ugly underneath, heheh.

This was actually a major problem with Mitsubishi TVs of this model, but it has great
picture, and a nice fairly flat tube (for its year as well, (1992). I changed the caps
(which were giving weird retrace lines because they were leaking, and actually, this
caused the Vert drive IC to blow. I changed the IC once, and the lines were still there,
I heated the caps with a hair dryer and the lines went away, then when I sprayed the caps
with FREEZE IT, bang, no more Vert :(. The cap must have shorted at that point, caused
excessive current draw on a series dropping resistor and well, after all was changed,
voila, working TV again.

I hate fixing TVs. bleah. hehe, forgot to discharge the tube while removing the flyback
wire, ummmm, instant hair style, happened so fast I didn't have time to yell or anything.
I didn't even really feel much, just stunned!!
