Switching Unit

I need a rare switch for a circuit. The arm in this assembly is a 2mm
steel rod about 16 inches in length. It moves across a 2 inch area and
needs to switch on a light and sound circuit at the left and right of
this area.
Have been unable to find a made-up switch of this kind. Does anyone
know of a maker or outlet for this? I need it for a project I'm
building. I have looked at making my own using light cells but would
rather buy one already built. Micro-switches, whatever OK. Just needs
to open close light/sound circuit.

Use a reed switch with a pair of small magnets, one at each limit of
travel.
