svideo of tv card?

I need to connect a video machine to the input of a tv card. The video
machine has got RCA outputs and the video card has got a SVideo input. Do I
connect the RCA's with a suitable cable to the s-video input?

I tried connecting it up with a normal tv-cable (coax) but the tv-card
doesn't pick up the videomachine (test pattern & playing video)

Works either direction.
