Suspect vertical IC

I have small CTV with Single Horizontal Line, so I suspect the vertical IC
as it drives the yoke directly. I also know that something is drawing to
much power as the light bulb trick lights the bulb quite well and the power
supply does not start in standby. In generic terms, can I start the set with
the IC removed to see if its gone bad inside ?. The IC is $35 no return

Without a schematic, no way to know for sure but should be safe to
remove the IC and see if it starts.

In any case, you need to identify the location of the overload.

I would strongly suggest you get the set properly serviced by a tech who is
properly trained, has the proper test equipment, and service information.
You cannot go in the set with light bulbs and ect. It takes the proper test
equipment and skills to determine the failed components.

You do not want to start blindly changing parts, and experimenting on your
set. You will most likely cause more damage, and also be at risk for a
safety hazard.
