Strange Device

Can anyone help identify a device in a To-220 Package. It almost acts
like exactly like a switch - it has an input pin, ground and an output
pin. In the normal mode the output tracks the input almost
identically. Once the input hits 20 volts the output shuts down
completely. There is no load on the output - you can measure the
output and it is 0 volts (with or without load). Its almost like the
device opened a relay contact when it hit 20 volts.

Anyone know what type of device this is?

Thanks in Advance;

Very nice, an over-voltage protection switch. Can you measure
its on-resistance while on? Can it carry several amps? And
how much input voltage will it withstand? Hundreds of volts?
(Do you have spares, in case you destroy one while testing?)

Thanks,
