How to get to the switch section? probably a reed switch and a magnet
housed in the slide. Seems to be joltable and then magnetically holding
closed in on or off position , presumably magnetised reed.
Just plastic but set in this very robust aluminium casting. How to flex
so it will prize-out undamaged?
If the slide bit removed then perhaps a tape-head demagnetiser on the reed.

Prized the slide away, at the other end to the silly plastic turnbuckle
lock. Demagnetized the unseen reed and reassembled. If it returns then
the next stage is to cut one of the wires to the switch at the XLR,
easily managed, but permanently on then. After that it looks as though
the plastic body with the reed is glued into the heavy casting. Probably
would be deformed by mechanical levering and/or heat getting it unstuck,
so leave as a last resort.
