Sponsoring a survey: How to best present information...

Well, it just took 11 hours to update my administration and I\'m only halfway there.

I can recommend the following to the government.

Sponsor a study on:

\"How best to present information.\"

Where does the page number appear? In which corner ?

Where will the date be? In which corner ?

Where does the tracking number appear?

Which font for text ?

How big should the letters be?

How to show calculations clearly ?

Where should these be?

Where will the correspondence address be placed?

Where does sender appear?

Interest percentage obligatory for banks? ;)

Distinguishing between companies/institutions by using color and logos.

Greetings,
Skybuck.

Skybuck needs to know that the information he presents here really isn\'t worth presenting.

The first step in presenting any information should involve working out whether the recipient of the information would find it useful, and Skybuck doesn\'t seem to be aware that his own judgment on the subject is inadequate.

The scientific community uses peer-review to tackle this problem. Skybuck needs to find somebody a little more competent than he is - not a peer but somebody more competent - before he thrust his delusions onto a wider audience.

Gnatguy needs that kind of help too.

A a falls into that same category.

FWIW, Skybuck and Gnatguy also post via google groups, same as A a, so
while you are reporting A a for abuse, you could also start reporting
Skybuck and Gnatguy for abuse as well.

Note to A a (since it seems so ignorant that it has missed this
distinction):

USENET is not twitter.

A a is quite a bit worse that Skybuck and Gnatguy. This is - following Dr. Johnson - arguing precedent between a flea and louse - but Gnatguy and Skybuck do make the attempt to produce a rational reaction to critical posts, even if they are utterly hopeless at it.

A a doesn\'t bother.

I wonder who a a is confusing me with? I had to drink quite a lot of strong coffee to stay awake in marketing meetings. I wouldn\'t ever contemplate getting any more involved with them than having to listen to them telling us how they were going to sell what engineering had been persuaded to develop for them to sell.

I avoided that as much as possible, but having been stuck with making one of our machines perform to the specification that marketing had invented, I did know that engineering did have to listen when they talked.
