Sanyo Model DS25590
I found one by searching online for a shocking $67.80. Any chance I can
do better than that?

Thanks,
Bill

Try Tip Top TV & VCR in Reseda, CA. They sell rebuilt tuners for most
brands at $27 including shipping, assuming you send the old one back for a
dud.

Are you 100% sure it is bad?
90% of Sanyo tuner problems fall into two classes of failures:
1. Problems on the 33v b+ line to the tuner due to an open resistor, R505 on
a little older models.
2. Solder connections inside the tuner to the pins and grounds.

Only rarely do I actually find the tuner bad, usually the surface mount
prescaler ic inside the tuner. Not a repair for the novice or tv repair
guy, but fairly easy to a fully equipped shop and technician.

I went back inside to confirm the voltage mentioned and found it ok.
But today I noticed I was getting a bit of reception although the
flickering was too heavy to make it watchable.
I popped the hood on the tuner and found ants had made a colony inside.
Once I evicted them the set performs fine now.

These devils love to live inside solid state electronics!

Thanks for all the advice.

Should you need a tuner there's a good place here in Calif. I have
used their tuners and had good luck with them and they are not
expensive. The name is Tiptop and they have a website.
