Lots of ideas but they are all wild guesses without some more information
from you.
You say "no picture"........
does that mean that there is raster but no picture? ..... no raster?
Is HV present? Are the CRT filaments lit?
For additional information that will help you troubleshoot your television
you should go to the website for this newsgroup at
http://www.repairfaq.org/
there, with some searching, you will find a wealth of troubleshooting tips,
repair procedures, component testing methods, and IMPORTANT safety
information that will help you to stay away from dangerous and lethal
electrical shock hazards inside your television.... NOTE that these hazards
may still be present even when the television is turned off and unplugged
from the AC power... be very careful.
If after reading through the repairfaq you are still not certain how to
proceed you would best advised to TAKE your television to a service shop for
a proper and safe repair.
At the very least you should obtain a repair cost estimate so you can make
an intelligent repair decision with facts instead of internet and telephone
guesses. A technician will actually have to see the television to perform
some basic troubleshooting tests and observations in order to provide a
halfway accurate repair estimate..... TAKE it to a service shop..... it can
not be done over the internet or telephone. It might be safer for you and
better for your television.

Thanks Daniel.
I think I get the rater but no picture. I could see a bright horizontal line
when I turn up the controls.
I took it to a shop. Cost was more than for a new set. I might buy a new
one.
I don't see filament lit though. I see some dark color in the back of tube,
something like what you
would see in a fused light bulb. I think HV (High Voltage ?) is present.

Thanks
Sugriv
