I've got a part that's in a SOT whatever it's called package, labeled
3055, and I remember that someone talked about it here before, but can't
remember what the full part number was. Can someone refresh my memory?
:) Thanks.

It must be a 2N3055, NPN power transistor.

OnSemi and Fairchild make MOSFETs with '3055' in part name, e.g.:
NDT3055L, MMFT3055V, MTD3055V.

Yeah, thanks. That's what I was thinking it was, a FET. It's not a
2N3055 because they come in a TO-3 package. It's off a HDD controller
PCB, so it must a high current FET.

Dieter

Motorola put the 2N3055 die into a TO-225 package, so don't be too sure they
didn't make a surface-mount version as well. I'd be surprised to find that
die in a new package, but I wouldn't fall on the floor.

So I'm not the only one that saw a 2N3055 in another package.. In a Ericsson
carkit they use 4 2N3055 as a bridged amplifier, in DPAK package.

If it doesn't come in a TO-3 package, then it's not a real 2N3055. It's
not a 2N3055 because JEDEC specs call for a TO-3 package.
