Hello, I havent got a clue about fixing monitors. I am interested in knowing
what the problem could be, whether it would be worth being fixed.
Here's what happened:
I was poking my graphics card about while my pc was turned on - because i
have bought a dodgy ATi that causes major gliches in games. By pressing on
it i can remove theses glitches. Anyway, i was pressing on it as usual and
suddenly i got a blank screen with an "Out of Range" message box in the
centre. Then it shut down.
I managed to restart it with no problems, everything was runing normally, i
then fiddled with the card again and this time, no message box appeared it
just shut down.
Now the monitor's light turns green when power is provided, but there's no
picture at all.
The Monitor's max refresh is 60Hz, but i tried running it at 70 for a week,
and it worked fine. I cant remember if when the incident occured i was
running at 70Hz still, as i'd been changing settings all over the place
trying to sort out my graphics problems.
The resolution it was in was 1280 x 960, and i was playing Myst: Uru. The
refresh was noticeable.
I have checked the cables, the pins are perfect, none missing, none bent.
Also swapped power cables, and tried wiggling the ends incase of poor
contacts.
I have left the monitor off for a few days and tried plugging it back into a
different system, with video set at 60Hz refresh. Nothing.
I can hear a quiet high pitched sound from the back, getting louder and then
dying, repeating itself after turning the monitor on for 5 secs.
Any ideas? If your interested in buying this off me also, let me know. I
live in the East Midlands, England.
thanks
