Sony TCM 5000EV

Okay so I bought this recorder and I can only record using the
internal microphone...the mic 1 and mic 2 are not working. Any idea
whats wrong with it?


I saw another recorder that is a TCM 5000 (not EV) that says it needs
the rubber replaced. think its worth a purchase to repair it? (how
easy is it to repair either recorder?

It is impossible to give an estimate on something that the exact internal
fault is not known. Take the unit to the Sony service centre, and have it
properly checked. If it is an in debt circuit fault, the board is changed.

I think you mean a belt (rubber). These are normally not very expensive.
The unit will have to come apart to change it.

When buying used equipment, this is a gamble. Usually, I found that people
sell their stuff when they find it is not worth to keep anymore. You
basically will get what you pay for...
