Sony SLV-960HF error

Got this SLV-960HF here that came to me having been dropped. Part of the
tape loading mechanism was broken so I put a new one in there, still when I
plug it in I get 163 on the display, power button has no effect, won't
accept a tape. I took it apart and did a visual inspection, no cracks in the
board that I can see, also sometimes if I unplug and plug it back in I get
263 on the display. Any ideas?

I would look again for cracked traces.... and maybe torn ribbon
cables........ cracked solder connections, etc.
