High voltage shutdown. Trys to come on after a few seconds, but shuts
down again. Was told to check the value of resistor R217 on the E
board, but I can't find any such resistor anywhere. I can see several
close numbers in the tuner area, but no R217. I tried to get a
schematic, but was quoted $95 plus..so forget that. Would like to know
if anyone can help. Thanks.

If Hout collector is normal it is probably convergence ICs. Many of these at
this have had the fusibles on convergenge output bnoard jump, as per
suppopsedly Sony instructions. The current limiting is so good that there is no
hazard, but it makes troubleshooting harder.

Those STK4121s have an upgrade to STK4191, but it's not needed. This is not a
factory thing, just my research, they are the same ICs but heftier.

How's the coolant on that set ? I got some specific instructions on that
procedure if you're interested. Difficult procedure but worth it, these thing
usually have strong tubes and the cooling system is quite effective, which
means the phospor is good and efficient.

I could do them for you but it'll cost a bit.

Also some of the soldering on the regularos may be in question, also check
the caps in the power supplies basically because of the age of the tele.
