Sony Multiscan 400PS monitor turning off - overheating

I have a Sony Muliscan 400PS 19" monitor that is turing itself off
after about 20-30 minutes. If I then leave the monitor for about 15
minutes it will turn on again ok, but then power off again after a
similar period.
The thing that has me really troubled, is that the screen becomes warm
to touch before switching off, something that I have not seen before.
Is this a simple problem or am I going to pay through the nose to have
it fixed? I would hate for the monitor to be rendered useless because
of this...

Wam is normal, the shutting off thing is probably just a cracked solder
joint in the power supply.
