Sony MPX IC

Finally got around to looking at a Sony KV-27TS27 I was given some time ago.
Audio is very quiet with loud crackles and pops, picture does some odd
things when on the video input too, but first of all I found the MPX module
and the caps are leaking, it's growing corrosion and smells like old fish.
MAT Electronics has something similar listed, Sony SBX1637-11, the pin
configuration is identical but the layout of the caps and pots on the board
is a bit different. Are all these MPX modules identical in function or do I
need to find the specific one for this set? There's plenty of references to
it's failure out there but little specific info about it.

Get the original from Sony, or a Sony authorized parts distributor if you
want to be sure. You only have to supply the model number of the set, and
the proper part number with the description for the board.

I have used the replacement SBX modules from MAT..... and Yes, they will
work perfectly.... Sony changed the layout a little.... the caps and pots
but they work fine.
