Sony monitor image small at high resolutions

I've got a Sony 17SFII monitor here that displays fine at low
resolutions, but as resolution increases its image gets smaller
and smaller. For instance, at 800*600 it fills the screen, but
at 1024*768 it's down to about quarter screen with the size
controls set on max (and it can't be centered, either, at high
res).

Thanks for your help.

I had the same problem with a couple of Dell/Sony GDM17SE2T monitors.
I finally replaced a small transformer near the flyback and that fixed
the problem. The transformer was in position T403 and was marked 998-11.
I used one from an old junked 15SF1 chassis. I have heard that some of
these small transformers develop small cracks in the core that surrounds
the windings and causes these problems.
Hope this helps....
