Sony KV27XBR50 remote

I have an old but nice Sony KV27XBR50 that I've never had the remote for.
The problem is that the front panel has only a power button and no other
controls. I've tried a variety of universals but I can never get into the
menu to set the brightness and contrast. What is needed to do this? Is there
a remote that would have it, or a profile for one of those fully
programmable remotes that I could download? Does anyone know the model of
the correct remote for this set? Sometimes I think there should be a law
that all functionality be accessible without the remote.

No problems here using a oneforall urc7201 on a Sony KV29XBR37. All I had
to do was email oneforall and wait a few days for the special codes and how
to assign the extra functions to unused keys on the remote. It now does
PIP, split picture, all the menu and picture controls, etc.

You must order the origional remote from Sony, or find a used one that
is for your set. I found with the used ones, they are usually
defective, and this is why they are sold off as used...

The reason why there are so few buttons on the front panel, is that
with all the functions in these sets, the front panel would be very
big. To make a full functional front panel of some type, would also
increase the cost of the TV set.

I realize why they generally don't have everything, but surely they could
have at least provided volume, channel, input selection and a button to get
into the user setup menu. I've fixed other sets that aren't nearly as nice,
but at least let you into the menu and navigate it with the volume and
channel buttons. The Sony has a really excellent picture, but as long as
I've had it it's always been too bright and the original remote is long
discontinued and nearly impossible to find.

If you call the Sony rep, they may have dedicated Sony universal
remotes that are good for a complete Sony series. You have to ask
someone who is knowledgable about Sony parts.

OneForAll has some high end remotes that will most likely work. I
found them to sometimes be difficult to program, the keys don't
neceessarily logicaly properly show their functions, and also there is
no gaurantee that you will have all the functions be able to work.
