Set has very weak audio, Picture is fine. Using off air signal. Ch 3 has a
little audio, seems to get louder when the station is playing music, Ch 12
has no audio. speakers are on. Disconnecting the ant input gives a loud
hissing(normal no signal sound) So I am assuming the audio output is working
ok.Looks like the audio det. is in the tuner. Scope the R & L out at the
tuner pins 22 & 23 .can see a little audio from ch 3, none from ch 12.
Voltages all appear to be pretty close..
Looked at the service menu, All the settings are pretty close to what the
SAMS indicate they should be.
I am thinking bad tuner, but not sure and dont have one to try.
Any help would be appreciated.

The sbx1637 mm20l assy is probably faulty . It is available from MCM
and many other suppliers. Chuck

Sorry everyone for the repeated responses but I was having some
trouble posting.
I could not find a link on the net for a schematic or data sheets for
that SBX1637-01/11 but I have the data sheets in front of me in
paperback form.

Pin 1=VCC (+9v)
Pin 2=mute (supresses the output of pins 9,10, & 11,operates at H
level,2v to vcc
Pin 3=F SAP
Pin 4=forced
Pin 5=MSO=mode control switch
Pin 6=MS1=mode control switch
Pin 7=SAP IND=sap indicator driver
Pin 8=ST IND=stereo indicator driver
Pin 9=L+R out=left & right output
Pin 10=L out=left output
Pin 11=R out=right output
Pin 12=MPX in
Pin 14=TP1=test pin
Pin 15=TP2=test pin
Pin 16=GND

Customer decided to use a vcr for video and audio input, and use it as is.
