There are a lot of hours on my Sony TV. What I have is a green tint that is
obvious where there should be grey half tones. The highlites have normal
tint. Do I have a bad picture tube or is there an adjustment to compensate?

I have seen the green tint on other old Sony TV's.

Thanks,

Dave M.

Possibly just a very weak picture tube. Doubtful the gray scale adjustments
will get it into proper tracking. Only with proper voltage and waveform
checking and crt analysis can this be confirmed in person.

David,

Grey scale shifts like this on conventional three gun sets have typically
been picture tube problems for me. Unfortunately, I have no experience
dealing with this problem on Sonys. I might just assume that this is a weak
picture tube as one of your possibilities. This is a dilemma for me, because
I want to replace the set with an HD model, but big $$$ from Sony!

Thanks,

Dave M.

Dave, you might try http://www.highwaydeals.com/
I picked up a 36" XBR there last year for $1699 no tax and $200 bucks to fly
it from New York to California. Best deal I could find even if the warehouse
store was accross the street!.....Good Luck, Ross

One other thing Dave, since you appear to be out of Rochester New York
somewhere, it would be even cheaper for you.....Ross

It would be cheaper. Apparently, this site sells the item and it can be
shipped from a variety of dealers.

Thanks,

Dave M.
