Sony CCD TR105E Mechanism help needed

I've uploaded some pictures that go with this to

http://www.pootle.demon.co.uk/sony01/pics.htm

I'm looking at repairing this Sony CCD TR105E Camcorder, and if anyone is
familiar with the mechanism, they could probably save me some headaches
/further damage!

1) A plastic roller [A] has come loose and was wedged in the bottom of the
unit. I think it's come from near the pinch roller, is this the correct
location to refit it, and how is it meant to be held in (to prevent it
falling out again.

With the mech shown "unloaded" I think the mech on the left should be :-

Metal Pinch Plastic Metal/Plastic
Vertical roller Angled Vertical
Guide Roller Roller
[A] [maybe]

And on the right, a cluster of 4 guides and rollers, 1 angled, 3 vertical.

Is this correct? Is there another location the disconnected roller should
go?

2) The Metal topped plastic roller, that guides the tape across to the
head: This was unscrewed and wobbly. I've tightened it up, but there
is noise and shearing to the bottom 10% of the picture when recordings
are played back. Is that caused by this roller being misaligned now? Is
there a trick to realigning it, other than using a known good 8mm tape
in playback, and twiddling it?

3) The reel gears and ratchet system have small cracks in, shown on the
picture. Is this indicative of the mech trying to drive when there was
an obstruction, e.g. a roller having dropped off! ... should these be
solid, or are they designed to have breaks in? Would simply supergluing
them be a good idea, or are they designed as a weak link for safety?

Any help would be appreciated, I don't have access to a service manual, and
this seems a fairly basic mechanical fix. I hope! ...

Now that's a thorough post!! That guide roller goes into location 1.
Make sure it fits easily and then you put one fine drop of super glue
on it, and put it in place right away before the glue sets up. Then
it won't fall out again. I suppose you could use loctite and that
would not set up so fast.

as for the cracks in the reels, the only ones you need to worry
about is on the take up side if there are cracks in between the teeth
on the gear. They can spread and cause that reel to stop spinning.

Yes, you have probably changed the alignment of the machine. Do the
first part of this message then put a known good tape in the machine
and playback and turn the guide about 1/8 of a turn at a time until
you just get the lines to disappear from the bottom of the screen.
Then go another 1/8th. Good luck..

Might as well provide all the info :)

super glue
Done.

More superglue coming up.

Having dismantled more of the case, it's obvious the set screw had come
loose, meaning the roller had randomly screwed itself down, and any
attempts to adjust the guide were immediately negated when the tape
moved (and screwed it in!). I've balanced the set screw so I can adjust the
guide, but the tape won't shift it -- and the alignment seems to have come
in (quite a few turns later!). All tightened up and (ahem) Araldited on top
to a neighbouring solid item. It won't move now ...

Thanks for the help!
