Sony CCD-FX330 Camcorder Repair?

I'm trying to decide if I should pitch my 8-year-old Sony CCD-FX330
Camcorder. When it records the picture is sometimes blacked out
(though I can see the footage if I FF the tape), sometimes full black
and white or half the screen is black and white and sometimes the pic
is great. A few times the eject symbol appeared on the screen while
recording. I've tried a tape cleaner, but it didn't seem to do much
good. Any ideas on what the problem could be and is it something that
I can attempt to fix?

Every single surface mount capacitor in the unit needs replaced.
There may already be non-repariable board damage from leaking electrolyte on
the board, but only a qualified technician will be able to determine this
while having the camera all the way apart.

It is highly unlikely without a service manual or lots of experience that
you will be able to take the unit apart without doing damage to the unit due
to the highly packed design.

There is an excellent series of pages here
http://www.vidcam.com.au/Recapping/1.html
showing the scope of what is required
