It says "out of stock at moment" further down the page so maybe
temporarily changing the price to something ridiculous is less work than
taking the item down and re-listing when he gets more of them in.
Or it could be simple economic theory where price is directly
proportional to scarcity. You see it every day in fruit and vegetable
prices.

Isn't it a breach of the rules to offer for sale something that you
don't have?

Maybe they keep one just to cover that (not much chance of selling it)

I'm sure that for that price, they could supply one.

$360 is less then the regular $299 Ebay selling price?

For that price I'm sure I could rustle one up to sell.

However, jacking up the price to some ridiculous level when things are out
of stock seems to quite common on Ebay.

Yes, I emailed someone while back with a ridiculous high price and
it was done as a signal the item was temporarily out of stock.

Grant.
