What stuff do you want to solar power?
Just the mains appliances in your room?

If it is just a muck around thing, and you know a bit about kit building and
electronics, you might be interested in oatleyelectronics.com as they have a
kit that powers about 3 compact fluros from 12V. Also they have a selection
of batteries and solar cells that would do the trick. And while not yet
completely "efficient" the high lumen luxeon LEDs would be interesting to
play with. Oatley take a while to send your order but I have never had any
problems with stuff not showing up, and I reckon they are the cheapest
around as most of their stock is end of line and surplus items, with some
second hand stuff thrown in.
