So, at what age do IC's become collectors items, rather than

Hi all!

I've seen these posts for Transistors etc fetching good prices, and I
was wondering what sort of age do people collect ICs?

I was sorting a pile of ICs out today, and I came across a 7475 unused,
with a date code of 6945, which I presume to be 1969...? It's certainly
one of the earliest ICs I can remember having, is it worth any more
because it's so old? I know it's not worth millions I know, but is it
worth keeping, or shall I just use it next time I need any old 7475?

Just a thought. Yours, Mark.

I'm 62, and I don't collect ICs. :)

My employer probably still has 7475s stocked in the stores dept.
.......
I just checked the catalog, and find that we have 2724.0 of them!!!
Someone must have been out of their mind when they last ordered them!
(I'll have to check on Monday to see if we really do have that many -
maybe we can sell a bunch, and support the operation of the lab for a
few months! :) )

Hiya!

:) Seemed I got my phrasing a bit backwards there, that's not quite
what I meant!

Let's try that again....

"At what age do ICs become collectable?"

Yours, Mark.
