snapshot of schematics made in Cadence IC 5033?

Hi there, guys ... How can I export the schematics I drawed in Cadence
5033 in a picture format (jpg, gif, png, ...)? Is there a special
feature that I didn't heard of ? I prefer saving those schematic in
black and white format ... because as they are ... seem to be hard to
read....

I've tried Design ->Plot ->Submit ->Plot Options (and then saving to
another .eps file) ... but it doesn't quite work .... in CIW says
that :

Quote:
*WARNING* Plotter configuration not loaded.
*WARNING* Plotter is not specified.
No cells plotted

And in the PLOTTER NAME field I have : noPlotters
What have I done wrong ?! Pls ... give me a solution too much of a
headache to edit in gimp or some other photo editor.

As far as I know, Cadence can only save the files as a post script file.
When you submit plot, select the plot options button. At the bottom of
the form, it has the choice of "send plot only to file." Tell it the file
name, and you are set.

Finding a reader for the format is a little bit more "hit and miss"
however. If you happen to have GIMP installed, it can do it without a
problem. Too bad xview cannot, at least the version I have.

@The Master : I done as you said .... but it happens as I wrote
earlier.

The error message seems to indicate the you don't have a
..cdsplotinit file active, or that its contents are invalid.

Also, you're running an extremely old version. The 5.0.33 i
release was several years ago. Do you have a site supporter?
He/she can probably help you with a plot definition file.

@OV0VO: I know this is an old version ... but this is the first one
that I managed to install ... I could install IC5141 but this it could
take a while (although I can install this version too).

I don't have no .cdsplotint file in my working directory. From where
could I get this file ? The thing is that I'm a student and I need
some screenshots of the schematics I worked on so that I can add them
in my final thesis ... so it's kinda of obvious that I don't have a
site supporter. Any suggestions to solve this?

You could try to download a free copy of Snagit. Search on google.
It can take a snapshot and you can save to most common formats like
jpg.

Good luck to you,
Eric

You can also use various tools (like pstoimg (or pstopnm followed by pnmtopng))
to convert PostScript to png. I've used this in the past to use a .cdsplotinit
which writes PostScript (colour) and then converts to png for inclusion in an
HTML datasheet generation program I wrote in SKILL.

I've used this in the past to capture images of the schematic.

In IC613 you have a direct File->Export Image to save the canvas to various
formats, including support for transparency, scaling the image, and so on.

Andrew.

The thing is that I can't generate the .ps file in order to use the
tools you just mentioned earlier.
I'll guest I will stick to this awful way of solving this matter (and
wasting): Print Screen and an eventual edit in gimp. :(

Look at:

$CDSHOME/tools/plot/samples/cdsplotinit.sample

% cp $CDSHOME/tools/plot/samples/cdsplotinit.sample
$YOUR_WORKING_DIRECTORY/.cdsplotinit

Hi Bogdan,

The Cadence plot generates an Encapsulated Post Script File (eps)
file. It is a vectorial format you could use in your reports.
If you after this, then you might be interested in the following
comments I've posted a little while ago.
http://groups.google.com/group/comp.cad.cadence/browse_thread/thread/c60634fa631bff0e

If you are after taking pictures for your PowerPoint's presentation or
whatsoever, then you could use one of the multiple tools from Unix
either in command-line mode : import,
gnome-panel-screenshot or GUIs, like gimp or kde's ksnapshot.
BTW, I'd rather go for png format rather than jpg.

Riad.
