Slow TV tube warm up problem.

I have a Mitsubishi CK-35FX2 TV.  When I turn it on, the screen is
almost black.   When it warms up, the picture is fine.   The
problem has started recently.

The set is about 10 years old.

Do you think the problem may be fixable at a reasonable cost, or is it
the beginning of the end?   Is the tube being damaged by waiting
for it to warm up?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Your problem can be from the tube going weak, or some of the support
components are going faulty. The bias volts to the electron-guns, power
supply outputs, and the high voltage should be verified.

Considering the age of the set, I would be strongly inclined to believe
the tube is most likely the fault. This is a very expensive repair, and
I would not invest this type of money in such an old set. There are
many other parts that can fail soon after.

You would have to take the set to a service centre and get an estimate.
This way you would be able to make an intelligent decision about
servicing the set.

Please disregard the post about the CRT being the culprit.
This model set is suffering from massive capacitor leakage.
Get it to a shop for an actual estimate and not internet conjecture.

While it is "possible" that the symptom the OP is seeing is caused by a weak
CRT as Jerry G suggested it seems that it is more likely that since this is
a Mitz television, I would concur that Bill Jr is probably correct.....
probably leaky or high esr electrolytics through out the unit and including
the famous PIP board smd cap problem ..... and maybe the infamous conductive
glue on the main board.... and of course a host of other possible faults....
There is absolutely no way for anyone to know without a real tech with real
knowledge getting inside the unit with real test equipment..
........ and Bill.... you are using a variation of my standard end of post
line .....
"Get it to a shop for an actual estimate so you can make an intelligent
decision with facts instead of internet wild guesses."
I guess that great minds think alike??
