Just got the November SC and read the article with interest. However, the
first thing that struck me was that the 12AX7 shown in the photos, looked
remarkably like a 12AT7. I just fished a 12AX7 out my memorabilia box and sure
enough, it has the much taller anodes. The 12AT7s in the self-same box look
just like the one in the SC article.
Anyone else notice this?

** There is a lot of variability in valve internal structure design - even
with the same type number.

Typically, 12AT7s have smaller anode structures than X7s - but this
is not always so.

What ever it is, it's all a load of shit and a waste of money.
