I am the (not-so) proud owner of a 1+ year Gigaset 8825. The LCD display on
the base unit has gone bad - it appears as though only two of the horizontal
rows of elements in the LCD unit are working (either that, or the controller
is shot).
In any case, Siemens customer support has been essentially useless, telling
me that the unit is out of warranty, and that they have no authorized repair
centers. I could always "take it to an electronics store" and have them fix
it. Right, like the guys at (insert name-brand electronics chain store)
could do a component-level repair (no offense to name-brand electronics
chain store employees).
So, I've removed the component from the case, voiding the remainder of my
warranty and am now trying to locate the part. There are a few identifying
numbers on the circuit board:
Silkscreened on the board:
PCB-VLG1058#1-01 2001.07.16
VL (logo, white box around the letters)
OPCVD
Computer-generated label attached to the board:
VLGEM1058-01
C39453-Z2-C108
Date: 20011024
Job: B206844
2nd Computer-generated label attached to the board:
VB (logo, box around the letters)
QC Pass 0143098489
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to acquire a new
component?
Thanks in advance,
Mike
