Should this RCA T.V. just be thrown away?

I have an old R.C.A. 19 inch manufactured around 1988 or 1989. Lately, the
red color on the set will go out, and the television will go out. I read from
the http://www.repairfaq.org/ and I can conclude that the picture tube is
shorted.

Naturally such a set would not be worth repairing.

Am I correct or could the set be repaired in some way?

P.S. I don't have a computer at home where the t.v. is so I couldn't give you
a model or chassis number.

I'd start by resoldering some things on the neck board, if that doesn't do
it the set could be shot, but usual symptom is a color going full on, not
vanishing.

I don't believe you can draw that conclusion without some testing and
I'm fairly sure it doesn't say it's definitely the tube at reparifaq.org.

No, testing will be needed to determine if this is correct but if you have
to take it to someone, probably not worth it.
