how do i sheeld a normal EI transformers
magnetic feild from audio circuits within
a metal rack cace?

would a sheet of metal over them work
or is there a better way?

thankyou
ppl

It's difficult/expensive to shield from magnetic fields.
Best options are:
* use a good transformer with minimum leakage (toroid)
* distance: keep it further away from circuitry of interest
* layout: keep the loop area of sensitive circuits small.

You get shielding from electric fields, but very little effect on the
magnetic fields. You need lots of magnetically "soft" metal to shield
from magnetic fields.

** Wrap a copper strap around the thing - in the same direction as the
windings - and solder the trap up. For good measure, wrap a few turns of
strip lamination from a discarded toroidal tranny and tape or tie it tight.

would a sheet of metal over them work
** Barely has any effect.

Sensible PCB track and wiring layout is the best idea.
