Sharp Viewcam problem

G'day,

I have a Sharp Viewcam VLE97 (yep, that's what it says... have NEVER found
any info on it tho... it's just one of those Hi8 cams with an LCD
display, no traditional viewfinder), which has just encountered a serious
error.

Was using the camera in Litchfield Nat Park, recorded a few bits... didn't
drop/hit the camera or anything... then suddenly when I tried to turn it
on, the screen flickered on/off/on/off etc about 5-8 times, then just
stayed off.

Turned off, tried again... same thing.

The camera wont even eject the tape.

Anyone familiar with this problem? Know a fix?

I was planning on buying a Sony digital vidcam 33E, but was hoping to keep
the Sharp as a spare.

Thanks

Travis

Try This,
Remove the Backup Battery and also the main battery,
Leave it for a few minutes,
And repower it up..
Sometimes the Processor locks up and has to be reset..

Sounds like capacitors problems on the voltage regulator section.
They goes leaky after years of service and does not maintain the
required capacitance for the voltage doubler stage.
