Service Manual needed for an NEC VN31...

I have contacted NEC about 6 weeks ago and I still havent heard from them,
any idea where I could get a service manual for this model? Id like to
replair the ones I have and not throw them out.

One shuts down as soon as the tape is put in, turn it on, press eject and
before the tape comes out it turns itself off again - I have an idea what it
is from one I have repaired in the past.

The second, I thought was just MagnaVision on the new tapes, but its not.
The sound leven goes up and down constantly while watching a movie - got an
idea about that too.

But Id like to have the service manual - can anybody point me in the right
direction please?

There is a 1000ľf Electro in the Power supply section that is faulty..
Very common..
Be careful as it is a switch mode power unit and they bit!!..:>

Alan, from memory, VN31 is anot an LG chassis with this faulty cap. If i
remember correctly, VN31 has a shielded module in power supply (SONy
module?) that needs all caps replaced.
