Selection of text was never proper in IC51 and earlier versions.
Recently I started using IC612, but still the same inefficient and
inconvenient text selection problem exist in IC612 too. Is there any
plan to fix it?

No. It is about selecting inside the window created by
"view(<fileName>)" command or inside the properties window from the
library manager if you do right click properties.

Since the view() windows can have additional functionality added on (such as
bindkeys, and functions which act on the items of text), there's a whole API to
deal with these windows - so changing the way they work is not entirely
straightforward without breaking existing tools which use view() windows.

However, there are enhancement requests asking for this. I suggest you contact
Cadence customer support and make your request there, so that it gets more
weight in the list of things to do...

Regards,

Andrew.
