? Seiko solar watch left under bed dies.

I have a solar Seiko digital watch I'd been using for 5 years and stopped
working. Usually, I would take it for a walk or jogging. But when left under a
dark bed for a month it stopped charging even after placing it under the sun
for a few days. Should the battery be replaced? Is it a lithium, or Nicad? I
should have open it first before asking this, right? But it appears sealed.

The supercapacitor could need "reforming" . THis can be done by
leaving it under a halogen light for a few days continuously - if it
does not recover then the capacitor has leaked and needs replacing .

There is a super-capacitor in the watch that may require replacement.
This can only be done by Seiko, or their service rep.

You can try to leave the watch under a very strong light for a number of
days to see if it will recover. Make sure that the lamp is not casting
too much heat on the watch.

(BTW, I suggested halogens because a conventional fluorescent or
incandescent may not work, as its the infra-red that the cheap cells
respond to) .
