I know there exist some devices that
can be programmed to read a used phone card
for identification with password.

Where can I find good documentation
for designing & constructing such a device?

I need to develop a proprietary method
and hardware to enter a lab with pass code
and be registered by a computer.
And I have much time for this construction
but should not exceed a limited budget.
My first thought was to apply used phone cards,
but if you have a better idea, please share it.
So, any ideas?
