Schematic page corruption/incompatibilities?

I have created a folder with some schematic pages using capture 14.1 on
my desktop, and also capture 14.2 on my laptop (both XP Home machines).
I now get an error when I editing some net aliases in these pages and
try to save:

"DSM0004 unable to remove database object". Shortly after I will usually
get "Internal application error" which cannot be cleared without
shutting down Capture in the task manager. When I reopen the project one
or more of my pages will be gone.

I have tried several things to remedy or isolate the problem:
1) Editing the items one at a time.
2) Installing 14.2 on my desktop machine.
3) Creating new pages and cut and pasting the contents from the "bad"
pages.

There does not appear to be any one entity that causes the problem, but
seems to be related to net aliases/offpage connectors. Short of
recreating two days of effort, how can I fix this?

Although XP Home is not specifically supported (why is that?), a cadence
rep told me how to get it to install, so its hard to believe that has
anything to do with it. I also used my desktop configuration on a
previous large project without problems.

Any info is appreciated,
thanks,

The problem seems to be fixed after a copy and paste of each page using
SelectAll of the page contents (not the entire page), to a new design file.
