schematic not found

i copied a cell including symbol and schematic to a library, however
when i open the shcematic, there is a warning "ddsServopen: schematic
not found", but the symbol can be read,
i checked the size of the file corresponding to the schematic, and it
is larger than 8000Bytes,

how can i do to open the schematic?

How did you do the copy? In UNIX? If so, you'll need to do a File->Refresh in
the CIW so that DFII sees it there - actually, that's probably not true if it's
an existing library.

Either that, or you didn't copy it to where the cds.lib is pointing to the
library - I've seen users do this a number of times - their cds.lib is pointing
at a different definition than somebody elses.

actually i have copied some cells to a direc, and most of the cells
can be opened but this one, and therefore this cells has the correct
direc and cds.lib points to the correct path, but anyway, only this
cell cannot be opened. Even if i create a new schematic with a
different name as schematic1 for this cell, I still cannot open the
new created schematic1.

You still don't explain _how_ you copied the cells, by the cadence
library manager or by the unix command line or by a file manager of your
desktop.

You have probably checked with ls -l in the cell directory that all
cells needed are there and that they have read and write permission for
you and all these things that can give cadence problems. Don't forget to
check the cell directory itself with ls -ld and the prop.xx file

Are the file (and cellView directory) permissions OK?

i have full access to all the files.
and as to the cell whose schematic cannot be open, actually it has
shcematic file and has a proper size, and its symbol can be opened.

If it wouldn't be too much hassle for you, I would ask you to try to
copy the library using the Library manager instead of the unix command
line. If your database wasn't flushed to disk when you copied the file,
some or all of your data was in the memory of the computer you worked on
and not in the file you copied. If _you_ didn't have the file open, then
it may perfectly well have been somebody else who had that particular
cell open. I have seen this kind of behaviour when two people have been
working from the same user on the same data in an eariler version of
cadence in a different company.

Ok then, what happens when I run a 3rd party tool ( say Columbus RLC
extraction ) and when
it makes a new "extracted_RLC" view, it messes up version control in artist.
( i.e. this fell off my todo list and I don't work there any more so I am
very unlikely to report this officially.)

p.s. I know the situation here too, I just want others to also understand
the dangers of doing UNIX cp's of
artist files ... yikes ... even from 3rd party add in tools ... be warned
