Sanyo VCR VWM 685

Hello,

I have a Sanyo VCR VMW 685.
Problem with a unit is once the tape is in and play button is pressed
VCR shuts down by itself. Any suggestions what to look for?

Could be lots of things. Capstan motor not turning, no takeup, bad sensing
of tape motion, no drum rotation, no drum PG signal, etc, etc, etc.

Depends how old the thing is . the old ones had belt problems
