I have a Sansui 9090, it does play but left channel is very distorted,
and turning volume up will cause overload circuit to kick out. Any ideas
what to look for?

Troubleshoot the left channel. We use a scope and audio generator to check
where the distortion is coming from. The preamp section is most likely
good. Most of the time, this is from the pre-output driver stage or the
output stage itself. It can be anything including bad caps, openish
resistors, or defective transistors.

It will take someone with the training and set-up to service your amp. There
are many service centres that are equipped and have personal to do this for
you. The cost will not be too much in relation to the replacement cost of a
new amp of the same quality of the one you have.
