Hi,

Some days ago I posted the message I repeat at the end of this post.

Now, I got two schematics: CSH7839L / CSH9839L and CSE78** / CSE98**T
in PDF format. The problem is that my monitor actually is CGH7609L
made in 1998 and the circuit is not the same as shown in the
schematics I got.

I wish to dynamically troubleshoot from the components side because I
can't dismount the whole monitor in order to get access to the PCB's
solder side, for I use my monitor daily even during weekends, no
gaming but hard work.

Need help to troubleshoot this monitor. The components pictorial
would be useful and the CGH7609L schematic just great.

The previous post is:

Suddenly, my monitor refuses to switch on as soon as I press the line
switch. I must switch it on and off several times to get it running
when cold. However, it doesn't seem to be a mechanical problem with
the power switch itself.

Like to know where in the WEB may I find an schematic or pictorial in
order to test the power supply control components w/o dismounting the
whole thing. Or perhaps you have had a similar problem and know how
to troubleshoot this beast.

Thanks a lot

Get an ESR meter, and test all the caps in the monitor, especially in the
power supply and scan circuits. The meter comes with a chart for the ESR
values range for each type of value of cap. The best is to compare the
readings with a new cap from inventory.

You may find a number of defective caps in your monitor. This is a common
cause, on many monitors after a number of years of use. The caps dry up
inside, and start to have high ESR values.

These monitors are not designed with service in mind. They are all
considered disposable, when out of warranty. There is very little after
warranty service support. If you look at the cost of a new monitor in
relation to just the labour alone to fix it, you will see why.
