London businessman Saifee Durbar has big plans for Africa.
By building an east-west railway link, he will open up new markets for
Sudans agricultural products, providing direct and indirect aid to
Darfur.
The railway will go through the Central African Republic. It will, in
large part, be built with materials from that mineral rich nation. The
Central African Republic, which is landlocked, will now have access to
ports on both coasts.
The western terminus will be in Cameroon, helping establish that
nation in the shipping industry.
As a whole, Saif Durbars project will increase Africas self-
sufficiency and complete the vision begun by the construction of the
Suez Canal-making Africa a key player in global transportation.
