Hi
SAIF is switching activity interchange format .
This is used to record the toggle count (1->0 and 0-> 1) transitions of
the signals and the time for which they stay in '0' ,'1','X' or 'Z'
state.By using this information the synthesis tools calculates the
dynamic power consumption thus enabling the designer to make his design
consume less power.
Currently, what I have read from the LRM is that only toggle count
related to 0-> 1 and 1->0 transtions is accounted for.
But as in our mose of designs the buses ormally go to 'Z' state and
then change their state to '1' or '0'.
So shd SAIF also record Z->0 and 0->Z transitions. Are they aneway going
to affect the dynamic power consumption ?
