This is not new. I recall seeing videos of the VW Beetle floating on water
and running. ;-)

Been there, done that

Interstate 5 at Kettlman City..about 1980, caught in a flash flood.

Not one of my better evenings....but yes...it floated, and ran quite
well...controlability was really "iffy: though.....

And the old mag National Lampoon got sued for showing a VW floating on
water with the caption "Had Ted Kennedy been driving a VW that fateful
night, he'd be President today."

I prefer to run my *boat* on water and my car on land.

My VW never had to float but I've helped rescue another one that slid
into a pond at the sand pits. The water line was about at the top of
the rear wheels. Water was slowly leaking in through the floor heater
outlets.
