RPTV Help, Please

First, thanks to those that responded to my earlier query.

Second, a couple new questions.

Mits says they have a horizontal view angle of 100 degrees.
Toshiba claims 160 degrees. Is Toshiba's real? What is a
typical view angle?

I'm told that "true" HD requires a 9" CRT. Is this true,
and if so, what series in the Hitachi, Mits, Toshiba or Sony
lines offers this?

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

A front projector like a Barco with 9 inch CRT's could do HD to it's full
1900+ resolution. The Mits RPTV with 9 inch CRT's cannot, not sure if it is
the electronics or RPTV inplementation limiting this. Toshiba put out a
LCOS type RPTV that was the first RPTV that could do full HD and it could
even do 1080p but Toshiba claimed they are having trouble getting the LCOS
chips. I saw that and it does have great possibilities but I think it still
needs time with improvements to get better as it looked to digitized to me
and like all the non-CRT based units the NTSC reception was lacking, very
blocky and soft. The newer plasmas are in the 1300 pixel range now.

If you are concerned about full 1900+ resolution then you either need to
spend big bucks or just wait for technology to advance and get cheaper.
Even the New Mits Diamond 65 inch RPTV with 9 inch guns is only rated by
Mits to produce 1200+ lines resolution. Most companies are spending their
efforts on Plasma, LCOS or DLP. CRT's are not the center of focus to
attempt new breakthroughs.

As far as the angle of view, just go to a store and look, I think you'll
find them about the same. The angle viewing has been good for years.
