The famous British audio designer J L Linsley Hood died last month aged 79.

As a teenager he served in the RAF working on radar systems intended to
bring WW2 to a speedier end - as well as a few Nazis. Later on, he set
up shop as a technical writer and a great many of his designs for audio
amplifiers and audio test equipment were published in Wireless World
magazine from the late 1960s onwards. His famous 1969, 10 watt class A
transistor amplifier was built in the thousands since in terms of cost it
was a real Williamson killer.

A Google search with " John Linsley Hood " gets over 4,800 hits - all of
them for the one person and his design work.

His designs in Wireless World were my entry point into sand based amp
building (Post Williamson), ditto for many of my peers.
Thanks, John, You will be missed.

Thank you for letting us know that Phil - it's a sad loss.

I remember his Wireless World articles quite clearly from my
child/teenage years - indeed, I think I understood parts of some
of them :) He was an effective communicator and an outstanding
designer who loved his subject and he will be missed.

My thanks to him for stimulating my interest in electronics.
